MicroBio Air samplers are lightweight hand held instruments (only 700g.). They are powered by 4xAA rechargeable NiMH batteries. Fully charged they will sample about 25,000 litres per charge. They use standard 55mm contact plates or 90mm Petri dishes, which the user can fill for themselves, making for very inexpensive consumables. The user can select the media for the organism they wish to monitor. Pre-filled plates are also readily available from lab suppliers. The stainless steel sampling head can be autoclaved.
